Sunnylands Administration and Operations Campus
"The jury described this project as 'a delightful mirage in the desert.' There is an excellent balance between the use and placement of textured CMU and extensive glazing that creates a timeless aesthetic. The color of the CMU creates lightness, yet roots the entire campus into the desert. Inside/outside connections are seamless, and once inside it feels protected and comfortable. There are countless positive active and passive sustainability considerations that should understandably make this building LEED® platinum."

Yares Residence
"This project is an elegant residential design reminiscent of the modern Case Study Houses of the mid-century. The home positively exploits its small site and uses a multitude of passive energy methods to promote shade and cross ventilation, all very carefully and sensitively detailed. CMU is used to promote an effective sense of mass and solidness which is delightfully juxtaposed to the lightness of the glass. This home is sophisticated, stylish, and absolutely timeless."

Summers Residence
"There are straight lines and hard surfaces and lots of white – and still there is soul in this house. The Jury very much appreciated that with some urging from the Architect, the Owners opted to save what they could and bring back the beauty of this house. We particularly focused on the outdoor room detail and the “structural” arch that helps to create the space."

2299 Via Monte Vista Residence
"This house could serve as one of the pilots for Residential LEED. The integrated PV system offsets electrical use allowing the house to be grid neutral, taking advantage of challenging climatic conditions. Masonry is actually celebrated throughout this project in an unabashed modern style - an honest and clean manner."
